Costa Rica Day 8

Good morning! My name is Lukas and today is my blog day. Today was laid back but well needed after many days of hard work. It started off with breakfast where we had some super delicious eggs and bread. Since today is our last full day at camp Terraba, the chaperones decided to have one-on-one meetings with each of us, checking in on how we are feeling mentally, physically, and what not. After, we headed to the construction site like we do most mornings. Because of all our dedication and fast working, today we didn't have much to do in order to finally complete the four pillars of the building. We completed our service to the amazing construction workers who helped us along the way. All that's left for us to do is help them put away the tools tommorow. After construction, we headed back to the camp where we had a decent amount of time to relax before we had rice with mixed vegetables for lunch. It was amazing! After an hour of free time to relax, we went and met Volmár and Carolay to make masks.

They told us about why they make these masks and that the ingenious culture has a great connection to the animals and so they started to create masks to honor them. Many people including myself painted masks of jaguars, but Graham got to carve a mask. Because he did it so well, Volmár and Carolay told him he could keep it.

Once we headed back to camp, more workshop activities were planned for us. Jeffrey's mom showed us how to make jewelry including necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. I made myself a necklace.

As I was finishing up, Mina yelled that they had found a scorpion. So, I grabbed a sharp stick I found earlier and killed it. From then until the Rice and chicken for dinner we didn't do much but rest. To celebrate the final full day in camp Terraba, we had a talent show. People sung, danced, and overall it was really fun. After the talent show, we had marshmallows and danced to music before heading to bed.

 Overall, the day was amazing!
